  • ¼ cup pumpkin purée
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar or to taste
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips milk or dark
  • ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Toppings
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate syrup drizzle
  • Halloween sprinkles or mini marshmallows
  • Cinnamon stick or candy witch broom for garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat the Base
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, pumpkin purée, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until smooth and warm (do not boil).
  3. Add Chocolate & Spices
  4. Stir in chocolate chips, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon. Whisk until melted and creamy.
  5. Finish & Flavor
  6. Remove from heat, then stir in vanilla extract for a smooth finish.
  7. Serve & Decorate
  8. Pour into mugs. Top with whipped cream, a chocolate drizzle, and spooky sprinkles or marshmallows.

Notes

For a vegan version, use oat milk or almond milk and vegan chocolate chips.
