Moroccan Fish (Chermoula Fish)

Ingredients
  

  • Fish
  • 4 white fish fillets sea bream, cod, hake, or sardines
  • Salt to taste
  • Chermoula Marinade
  • 1 cup fresh parsley finely chopped
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp chili powder optional
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup 60 ml olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Vegetables Optional but Traditional
  • 2 potatoes sliced
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 bell pepper sliced
  • 1 small onion sliced

Method
 

  1. 1️⃣ Make Chermoula
  2. In a bowl, mix parsley, cilantro, garlic, spices, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper into a paste.
  3. 2️⃣ Marinate Fish
  4. Coat fish generously with chermoula (inside and out if whole).
  5. Let marinate 30–60 minutes for best flavor.
  6. 3️⃣ Prepare Dish
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C.
  8. In a baking dish, layer potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and peppers.
  9. Place marinated fish on top.
  10. Spread remaining chermoula over everything.
  11. 4️⃣ Bake
  12. Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes.
  13. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes until fish is tender and vegetables are cooked.
  14. 5️⃣ Serve
  15. Serve hot with Moroccan bread (khobz) or couscous.
  16. Drizzle with extra lemon juice if desired.
