- Preheat Oven
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Assemble Sandwiches
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place 6 slices butter-side down on the sheet pan. Add 2 slices of cheese (and optional add-ins) on each. Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Bake
- Place another sheet pan on top of the sandwiches (to press them down for even crisping). Bake for 10 minutes.
- Flip & Crisp
- Remove the top pan, flip sandwiches, and bake uncovered for another 2–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Serve
- Remove from oven, cool slightly, and slice in half. Serve warm with tomato soup or dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra crunch, sprinkle a little shredded cheese on the outside before baking.
Use mayonnaise instead of butter for a tangy twist and crispier crust.
Great for meal prep — reheat in an air fryer for 2–3 minutes.
