- Caramelize the Onions
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook slowly for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and jammy. Let cool slightly.
- Mix the Creamy Base
- In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayo, and softened cream cheese. Stir until smooth and creamy.
- Add the Flavor
- Stir in chopped pickles, pickle juice, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until fully combined.
- Combine & Chill
- Fold in caramelized onions. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to blend.
- Serve & Enjoy
- Garnish with chives or dill. Serve with potato chips, pretzels, or veggie sticks.
Notes
For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
Add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne for a spicy kick.
Tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld.
